God Brahman vs You Brahman

This is what I learnt from Sarvapriyananda’s talks in youtube. I am just trying to pen down these thoughts to concretize my own understanding —

The God Brahman (nirguna brahman) diluted with Maya is God, and the nirguna Brahmna diluted by ignorance ( a part of Maya) is you.

So basically… if you drop the Maya from left side and drop the ignorance from right side — then That Brahman is you Brahman (tat tvam asi)

but my doubt was — that Brahman is BIG Brahman or God Brahman

but I brahman is small brahman

But then in one of his lectures, Sarvapriyananda explained that it is the same Brahman. The aggregate of Brahman is not possible because aggregation is a property valid in the gross world. See pure consiousness is pure consicousness — there is no Big Pure Consciousness and Small Pure Consicousness.

Even if it is difficult to understand or you don’t like to believe — but then there is an intuition — which can lead you to that. It is a very abstract concept. It is difficult to grasp the idea that the you and I are like that same consciousness and the universal consciousness is also that same consciousness.

But if you manage to grasp it, and then if you can further build on that concept, i.e, slowly realize that you are actually the whole big consiousness (nirguna brahman), then you will start to feel a tremendous energy within yourself.

Trying to understand tat tvam asi again from a different perspective… which will further strengthen the previous idea.

That you were once a child with less energy and today you are an adult with more power, fame and energy is vivid in your memory and no one has to convince you for you to know that. You are crystal clear on that. Similarly you were also once “nirguna brahman” and today you are you with far less energy — try to understand that with absolute clarity and faith to the extent that no one needs to convince you. And once you understand that — it will be easier for you to understand the previous thing that you are the whole consciousness (nirguna brahman)

Basically I have explained here 2 different ways to assimilate the idea that you are nirguna brahman.

Close your eyes and try to understand again and again by chewing on these ideas. That is basically manana (the seconds step) in the 3 step process of sravana, manana, nididhyasana.

Most of the time this second step of manana is missing and the chain of sravana, manana and nididhyasana is broken and therefore we don’t get the benefits of the knowledge.

With the understanding clear (by ensuring that the chain of the 3 fold steps are not broken) meditation becomes easier and the benefits of meditation can be easily realized. Without the understanding, one can keep practicing for long periods of time, but the right impact of the meditation will not be there. So it is very important for one to understand (in a logical way) this concept — otherwise it’s better to follow a different path — may be the dualistic approach — which is more emotional and less logical.
